Greetings, David,

I rang the NWB office today, but you had already left; I spoke to Phyllis.  This note is to update you on a conversation I had today with Spencer Dewar of INAC in Iqaluit. When I mentioned to Spencer that Pat Larocque had expressed to you a concern about the proposed trenching at Knife Lake, Spencer replied that he tended to agree with me that trenching was part of the original land-use application and thus part of the existing project scope.  Spencer will finish his due diligence and get back to me; he added that, even if an amendment is required, it should be very routine (a 10-day exercise, at most).

As for any specific issues that the NWB might have, please advise.  In regard to updating the existing Spill Plan, this would be done as a matter of course, in any event, in conjunction with any new programme.

Thanks in advance for your co-operation.

Regards,
