I have completed the technical review of the application and the NWB requires an amendment to the AR Plan to include the drill sites in addition to the camp AR.  As indicated in your application, DeBeers are planning to begin drilling in April. I will continue to draft the licence and subject to board approval and the submission of the amended AR Plan the licence should be ready before April.

Thank you for your letter of 15 February 2006, providing an information request from David Abernethy of Environment Canada (EC), Iqaluit, regarding our request to renew Kikerk/Knife Lake Water Licence #NWB2KIK0405.

 

Subsequently, I had a pleasant and informative conversation with Mr. Abernethy and we exchanged e-mails. The attached letter of response is the result of that dialogue and is designed to address EC’s concerns that we remain in compliance with sections 35(1) and 36(3) of the Fisheries Act. De Beers of course, also would comply with other EC general concerns, such as avoidance of nesting birds, should these be present during the proposed Knife Lake work programme.
