Subject: Boothia Water Licence application Date: Mon, 19 Jun 2000 14:50:02 -0700 From: Jeff.Heidema@cominco.com To: rbecker@polarnet.ca Dear Ms. Becker, RE: NWB2B00 - Water Licence application for exploration work on the Boothia Peninsula. With regard to this application, it has been brought to my attention that a potential significant concern with regard to approving a licence here is likely to hold up our proposed work this summer due to a requirement of public hearing. Since we have a very restrictive period within which we may work in this region, we request that you consider the following suggestion for resolving any significant concern that may delay this proposed work. If a particular concern can be potentially addressed or rectified directly by Cominco, please contact me at this location to consider alteration of the intended program. An example of this would potentially be a situation where, unknown to us, our camp location may be located too near someone's hunting or fishing camp. A minor adjustment to camp location, remaining subject to initial permits, would hopefully be able to resolve the concern. We respectfully request your consideration of this alternative method of concern reconciliation, Our alteration would hopefully negate the time requirement of a hearing situation. In my previous correspondence with the community and related organizations I have indicated that I was open to a community visit prior to the field season to address any significant concerns that may expressed. I do intend to address a council meeting on July 11 as outlined by Louis Primeau of Taloyoak. I would hope that any serious concerns would have been expressed to me personally prior to this late a period in time. Thank you for your consideration of this matter. If there is any other way I can be of assistance please contact me at 604-685-3070. Sincerely, Jeffrey H. Heidema
