Ms. Payette,

 

I left a phone message this morning for you, and tried to reach you without success at a later time today.  Due to concerns that you might be traveling, I wanted to follow-up with an email as well.

 

It is my understanding that Geoff Clarke of the KIA has forwarded an application that Hope Bay Mining submitted to the KIA for an all-season road from Doris North to Windy Camp.  I wanted to let you know that there is still some internal discussion on how we want to approach water crossings, which could impact if we will then need a water license for the road.  Because these discussions are ongoing and may result in some modification to the application, I would request that the NIRB not distribute the application to other interested parties at this time.  We will be contact in the near future to inform you if changes are needed in the application.

 

I would also like to request an opportunity for Brian Anderson (Operations Director for Hope Bay) and I to meet with the NIRB next week during the Mining Symposium.  Please suggest a day and time or we can make arrangements once we are all in Iqaluit.

 

Lastly, I would like to take the opportunity to introduce Chris Hanks who recently joined Hope Bay and will be taking over the role of Environmental Director, which I have been covering on an interim basis.  We will look for an opportunity in the near future to get Chris to Cambridge Bay to meet with NIRB and others.
