From: Michael Meyer [MICHAEL.MEYER@Newmont.com] Sent: May 27, 2008 4:13 PM To: Leslie Payette Subject: RE: NIRB 05MN107: Amendment Issued for HBML Doris North Project Modifications Leslie- Apologies for not being able to connect via phone today. I did speak with Li and understand that NIRB has never received a revised technical document for the proposed Windy Camp to Doris camp all-weather road. I signed cover letters on May 13 for the following groups: KIA, NWB, NIRB, Transport Canada, DFO. It was my understanding that Lawson Lundell sent the over letter and the technical document completed by SRK to these groups, but we are checking with them to confirm that they did send the report. I will update you on what we learn from Lawson Lundell and if we haven’t got these sent out, we will do so immediately. With regards to the KIA as the surface owner, we will need to modify a land agreement, likely the commercial lease, to include the road within the licensed area. We have had conversations with them about this change and are in the process of getting this in place. Enjoy your leave and hopefully I will have an update for you shortly about the status of the technical report. Back in March prior to the Nunavut Mining Symposium we communicated regarding your application with the KIA for a permit; however you had requested that we not look at the information until you determined the details of certain water crossings for the Water License. Following your meeting with Stephanie at the NMS you indicated that you would be submitting an application within a week (email attached); to which I believe we only received (via mail - Letter dated May 13, 2008) in hard copy on May 23, 2008; is it correct to assume these are the same project proposals? I spoke with Stanley at the KIA and he mentioned something about amending a previous license (KIA# KTCL308D003 or #KTL399C028) for the road….. I would greatly appreciate if you could try to clarify for me either via email or trying the phone again. I will be on Annual Leave starting tomorrow until next Wednesday, but will still check my emails every couple of days. Looking forward to speaking with you to clarify what is before the Board, Regards, Leslie Leslie Payette Manager Environmental Administration Nunavut Impact Review Board Cambridge Bay, Nunavut Tel: 867.983.4605 (direct) Tel: 866.233.3033 (toll-free) Fax: 867.983.2594 Email: lpayette@nirb.ca http://ftp.nirb.ca/
