Hi Julian. 

Hope Bay Mining Ltd. has submitted a proposal without an application for authorization. The proponent has presented the crossings as clear span bridges and culverts thus will have a very low risk to fish habitat.
Therefore DFO authorization will likely not be required.

Subject: Hope Bay Mining Ltd.-AA Hold Letter for Windy Camp Road Project

Dear Mr. Michael Meyer:

 

On May 23, 2008 the Nunavut Impact Review Board (NIRB or Board) received Hope Bay Mining Ltd.'s Windy Camp Road Project Proposal.  The Project Proposal is for an all-weather access road between Doris Camp and Windy Camp in the Hope Bay Belt.  The submission included the following
documents:

 

*	Cover Letter for Proposed Windy Camp Road.
*	Doris Camp- Windy Camp Access Road Technical Report. 

 

Once a request from an Authorizing Agency is made, the NIRB will carry out screening of the Project Proposal in accordance with Article 12, Part 4 of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement.
