Subject: NWB1JER0410 inquiry
Cheryl,
further to our telephone conversation yesterday, I had checked into the two items we had discussed.

The burning of the excessive amounts of cardboard and wood being generated from cleaning up of the old camp and the new construction should be carried out in such a manner as to not impact water quality.  You had mentioned that the Inspector had indicated that there were no concerns, this should be confirmed with the Inspector.

CAUSEWAY:  The freshwater intake/causeway construction information is currently in the review stage.  The final design and specifications were received by the Board on April 19, 2005 and distributed for review and comments on April 25, 2005 for a period of 30 days as per the Proposed Process described in a letter dated March 23, 2005 to Mr. Greg Missal.

The closing date for comments on this submission is May 26, 2005.  Under Part D of Licence NWB1JER0410, the NWB generally requires information and final designs to be submitted at least sixty (days) prior to the activity.  This applies as well to Part D, Item 15, construction of the Causeway.  If there is a need to expedite the process, it will be necessary for Tahera to submit in writing appropriate reasons and justification for the NWB to prioritize the file. This however may not alter the current timeline as it will be necessary to go back to the interested parties involved and make an additional request for review, resulting in a potential review period of 14 days.  The processing of the request will also require some time, so the overall advantage at this point may not be evident.

I do hope this helps to answer your concerns on the items discussed.  If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact myself or the Executive Director, Mr. Philippe de Pizzo at your earliest convenience.

Regards,
