From: Ramsey, John [jramsey@NRCan.gc.ca] Sent: August 25, 2003 2:12 PM To: Stephanie Briscoe (E-mail 2) Cc: Zainab Moghal (E-mail 2); Dixit, Aruna; Burgess, Margo; Clausen, Scott; Hogan, Charlene; Maclean, Neil Subject: Meadowbank Project -- Request for Extension to Due Date for Comments on Project Description Hi Stephanie, As I mentioned during our conversation earlier today, the Ontario power outage/blackout which began the afternoon of August 14 was problematic for many. Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) was one of several federal departments complying with the provincial request to operate buildings at minimum levels of energy consumption. During the 'state of emergency' which extended through August 22, only those NRcan employees deemed essential (i.e. for safety and security reasons) were expected to report to work. This as you can appreciate, has affected our ability to meet certain requests within the specified time lines. Given the circumstances noted above, would it be possible to extend the deadline for comments on the Meadowbank Project Description from August 29 (ref. your letter of July 29, 2003) to Friday, September 5?
