At the same time, I understand that Uravan has plans for mineral development on the calving grounds of the Beverly herd. It seems completely incongrous that in an era of increased environmental awareness, this development is even being considered. Please be aware that I am strongly opposed to any development on or near the calving grounds. Furthermore, the high level of current industrial activity in the area is growing out of control. The existing mineral tenures must be reduced immediately in order to preserve a significant part of Canada's heritage and a necessary food and cultural resource for residents of Nunavut. I strongly urge you to deny Uruvan's application. Sincerely, Arthur Saunders
