The decline of the caribou numbers can at least be somewhat attributed to the result of industrial activity. I feel strongly that the recovery of the caribou (so essential to the northern way of life and for an ecological balance) will be next to impossible if the most critical part of their habitat (the calving grounds) is taken over by industrial development. Please, please pay attention to the concern of proud Canadians over this matter. I canoed in the Barrens with Alex Hall this summer and was profoundly struck with the unparalleled and unsurpassed natural beauty of the area. Canada would be poorer in so many ways if this rare paradise on earth is lost to industrial greed. Respectfully yours, Barbara Naylor, Ontario E mail: bnaylor@rogers.com
