A Canadian friend informed me about the plans for mineral development on the calving grounds of the Beverly Caribou Herd. I know that the numbers of calves per 100 cows on these grounds are going down, due to unknown reasons. We all hope that the numbers will recover again, but this recovery will be rendered almost impossible, if industrial activity now takes place there. I know that you have to come to a difficult decision ( need for raw materials against unspoiled nature ).Certainly you keep in mind, that now ( strong decrease in calves per 100 cows ) is a bad time to start industrial activity in this area. Therefore it would make me happy to hear, that the application for mineral development on the calving grounds of the Beverly Caribou herd is denied. Thank you for considering my request. Yours faithfully Fritz Schindler
