Uravan Garry Lake Project -- NIRB File 08EN037 My name is Tara Ryan. I am a professional Canadian wildlife guide. Over the past 15 years I have had the pleasure of guiding with a variety of companies throughout Canada - particularly in the north. People from around the globe come to Canada to experience her beauty and revel in her wilderness. From purely an economic stand point allowing mineral exploration on a caribou calving ground is asinine. How can one short term, resource-based concern rate higher than long-term gains of local traditional use as well as the ripple effect from well-managed tourism? Please do not allow caribou to fail for short-term economic gain -- please say no to ANY extraction-based growth UNTIL substantial research is done on how said 'development' effects herd movement, calving grounds, etc. These studies MUST include how human movement (air traffic in particular), drilling and pipelines alter populations. thank you for you attention, Tara Ryan BFA, BEd professional guide Scenic Tours Frontiers North Adventures Cruise North Expeditions --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
