Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my e-mail. I am concerned about reports of the decline of Caribou Herds in the north. Specifically the Beverley Herd. Aerial surveys indicate that this herd may be in decline by as much as 90%. Stress put on their calving grounds may be contributing to this decline. Currently there are over 700 active mining tenures where the Beverley herd traditionally has calved. I would urge the Nunavut Impact Review Board to deny Uravan Mineral's application for mineral development (of uranium) on the Beverley Herd's calving grounds. I have canoed on some of the major rivers in the area....Thelon River, Elk River and Baillie River. It's the most awe inspiring place I have ever been. Hopefully mineral development won't alter this fact. Thanks, Alan Jones (Toronto, Ontario).
