Please consider this letter an expression of strong opposition to Uravan's plans for mineral development on the calving grounds of the Beverly caribou.


Recent media alerts indicate that the sustainability of the herd is seriously threatened, with surveys showing number of females fallen 98% in the last fourteen years!  


I urge you to require Uravan to follow the example of De Beers, Areva and Cameco and refrain from any mineral exploration activity on or near the calving grounds - areas essential to the survival of this iconic species so vitally important to the health and well being of indigenous northern people.
