It was the experience of a lifetime - one I had dreamed of and will never forget. The ONLY disappointment was that we saw very few caribou, never more than 15 at one time and usually only 4-7 animals. Now I have heard of the terrible decline in the Beverly herd and even if it's not 98% but much less, it is still shocking. These magnificent and important animals need all the help we can give them in order to stage a comeback. You, in Nunavut, we, in the rest of Canada, and our whole planet need these caribou to survive and prosper. Please deny ALL applications, including the one from Uravan, for permission to conduct mineral exploration anywhere near the caribou calving grounds and give nature the chance to follow its course wihout interference from humans.
