I am writing to urge you to deny the application of Uravan Minerals to develop a uranium mine in an area essential to the existence of the Beverly Lake caribou herd. This herd is already diminished by what appears to be a cyclic population decrease, and further human interference with reproduction by mining develpment would likely result in permanent disappearance of these and other northern animals. The barrenlands and its wildlife are Canadian treasures that cannot be replaced if destroyed. Please be aware that many of us who do not live in the NWT or Nunavut are seriously concerned over threats to this wonderful country.
