The proposed area is in the middle of the calving grounds of the Beverly Caribou Herd. In a recent, but well overdue aerial survey of the herd on their calving grounds (June 2008), the Beverly-Qamanirjuaq Caribou Management Board found that the population of the herd has crashed. Since the last census in the early '90s, they estimate that the population of the herd has dropped 98%. The survey also discovered that the number of calves is only 1/5th the normal number. Even if we ignore the possible causes for this catastrophic collapse, it is certain that the recovery of the herd will be impossible if their calving grounds are compromised. Please help protect the Beverly herd and other Barren Grounds caribou by denying Uravan Mineral's application. Thank you. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In accordance with The Companies (Registrar, Languages and Trading Disclosures) Regulations 2006: * Registered name: The American School in London Educational Trust Limited * Registered number: 784923 * Place of registration: England * Registered office address: One Waverley Place, London, NW8 0NP --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Email has been scanned for viruses by Altman Technologies' email management service - www.altman.co.uk/emailsystems
