For all of the Canadians and non-Canadians who have visited the northern limits of Canada there enters the very, very strong emotional view that it is one of the last bastions of environment in the world that is relatively pristine. This is not only "emotional" but a view that has as its base the the terrible importance that we must do everything possible to preserve some environment somewhere in the world that is not destroyed by commercial interests. This Project, reflected in the above noted file number "08EN037" is another example of the potential lack of sufficient concern on the part of our government and the potential absence of sufficient listening to the lobby against such ongoing projects that will result once again in big business reigning! Surely, at some point, there will be some thought given to the environmental importance of conservation in the Canadian North. If not that, then surely we have a responsibility to those that follow, in particular to our children and their children and their children, etc, to bring to a halt the destruction of it. Certainly the threat to the Beverley caribou herd's potential existence is most important, but this is only a part of the cost that will be levied on wildlife, tundral lands, and the environment. May there be sufficient intelligence, interest, and realization of the potential consequences of this Uravan Garry Lake Project directed to the appropriate decision makers that they in turn will make the decision to defeat this initiative. Yours sincerely, John Girvin
