After emailing Hugh on the Solid Waste Site issue, Hugh
gave me a call to update me and inform me that he would be looking into
it. Apparently his thoughts were that the requested information should
have been forwarded already.
For your info/files:
I asked Hugh about the status of the Licences previously
under HBJV and now MHBL. He asked me to put the info (question) into an email
and send it to Him. He forwarded it to Miramar's legal dept and the
following is the response. As we thought, there is no more Hope Bay Joint
Venture. Refer to the following for a history on the changes.

Dear
Dave,
Hugh Wilson
passed your e-mail on to me. Ultimately the licenses etc. should be in the
name of Miramar Hope Bay Ltd. as that company now owns 100% of the Hope Bay
project. This history is as follows:
1 -
originally the property was sold by BHP to Cambiex Exploration as to 50% and
Miramar Hope Bay Ltd. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Miramar Mining Corporation)
as to 50%. These two companies agreed to explore the property through a
joint venture, the Hope Bay Joint Venture;
2 - Cambiex
Exploration changed its name to Hope Bay Gold Corporation;
3 - Hope Bay
Gold Corporation completed a business transaction with Miramar Mining
Corporation which resulted in Hope Bay Gold Corporation becoming a wholly owned
subsidiary of Miramar Mining Corporation called Miramar HBG Inc. At this
point therefore the property was held 50% by Miramar Hope Bay and 50% by Miramar
HBG, both subsidiaries of Miramar Mining Corporation;
4 - Miramar
Mining Corporation transferred ownership of Miramar HBG to Miramar Hope Bay
Ltd.;
5 - Miramar
HBG resolved to wind up and transfer all of its assets to Miramar Hope Bay.
The result is
that after all the smoke cleared all of the Hope Bay project is now owned
by Miramar Hope Bay Ltd. and there is no longer any joint venture.
The transfer agreement between Miramar HBG and Miramar Hope Bay provides that
Miramar HBG will continue to hold all property interests, licenses, permits,
etc. in trust for Miramar Hope Bay until transfers have been completed.
We are in the
process of completing the transfers of all property titles to Miramar Hope Bay
and we should also transfer all the permits etc. so that everything is held by
Miramar Hope Bay Ltd. Please coordinate these transfers with
Hugh.
Thanks.

Further to our conversation
earlier, the question I had raised was with regard to the ownership of the
Doris North Project and it's corresponding Licences/Land Use Permits/Leases,
whatever may be involved with the project. All I am familiar with at the
present is the current Boston Licence (NWB1BOS0106, issued to HBJV of a
Montreal and Vancouver address) and the Hope Bay Licence
(NWB2HOP0207, issued to HBJV with MHBL and HBGC Inc.).
Most of the recent correspondence
has been generated by Miramar Hope Bay Ltd., whereas the earlier
correspondence was generated under a letterhead of Hope Bay Joint
Venture. This earlier correspondence included several submissions for
QA/QC, Spill Contingency Planning and Abandonment and Restoration
Planning.
The question that came up was with
the Final EIS submitted by MHBL and the reference within the document in
several areas to the ownership (Page 1-3) and current permits and Licences
held (Table 1-2). From what I have seen, documents on file at the NWB
refer to the HBJV.
I'm not sure of what changes have
taken place, if any, with respect to the Company (Miramar Mining). It
might be something that you could check into and see if there should be a
name change or re-assignment completed for any Licences/Permit held? As well,
any Plans that have been submitted should be revised to reflect any changes in
Company/personnel involved.
I hope this is of help in looking
into the questions raised.
